0 and Infinity are the new numbers of finance

15 years ago I wrote a new economy about the way the economy is changing. Unfortunately, the publication of the book was at the peak of the COM era, when people didn't read my book and thought it was the. com era. I didn't even mention it in my inside. I am talking about the network effect, due to the spread of replication, due to the relocation of the location, due to the previous business is not common but now become critical of the two numbers (free and infinite) and the economic map caused by the restructuring. 0 and Infinity are now part of the equation, the price will be free, and the potential for expansion of the network scale is infinite, of course, it will take a long time to become a reality, but now the trend is more obvious.

I also mention in the book that you want to run your business as a software company, no matter what business you do. Basically the software is eating away at everything. The dynamics of the Invisible Code world will be the dynamics of everything. Software, code and information will be the main means of wealth, and these intangible things will dominate all industries. It is therefore essential to understand how it works. Now the situation is very, very clear, and the next new economy we're going to have is controlled by big data, which is also an intangible asset.

The real revolution is happening.

Big Data is a real revolution that is taking place. Yes, it's a hot word, but it makes sense. You have to focus on big data. We are now in a time when the data is large and its parameters need to be captured, moved, processed, optimized, managed, and queued in real time, and these things will become the essential elements of wealth creation. We've restructured the atom, and now we want to reorganize the data. This is what we will see in the next 10 years.

That's what the web is up to. They release the data from the language, making it machine-readable, and then reorganizing in countless ways that we can't even imagine. But to do this requires a set of tools that we do not have right now. The scale of these data is infinite (zillionic, too large to compute), we have not even shown the method, and can not calculate, for business, this is both an opportunity and a challenge.

How many things do you want to bring?

Facebook's Jeff Hammerbach says his generation's best idea is to get people to click on ads. Stephenson, a science fiction writer, suggests a bit more daring, not just thinking about these very commercial, unimaginative, short-sighted things, but thinking from the height of the Times and civilizations. I agree with 100%. Now there is a tendency for short-term thinking, thinking about 5 years or so. This habit is not good, culturally speaking, this is definitely the idea of quick success without forethought. After 10, do you bring anything with you? Was there any Wi-Fi at that time? Why should I try and master this? The uncertainties of the future do not really hurt the long-term thinking, but always have this thinking.

If I were a young man, daring to look in the long run and think about what would take 10 years to complete, I would pay attention to Elon Musk, see his electric car or crazy super tunnels, return to the moon or land on Mars. People like Elon should be called our model, because we have the ability to do those things, just need to overcome the idea of quick success, willing to spend 10 years to fight.

The new platform of Art and Company

Many great art has been born today, some even the best ever. Some serials, like "Lost" and "FireWire," can be written almost to history, comparable to Dickens and Shakespeare. Universities will have courses and professors studying these serials, just like the experts who have studied Dickens. We create art, and there is still a lot of room, although society may not respect these artists as much as ever.

Artists are some people who are indifferent, they speak the truth to power, they challenge authority. A very good question is, if a system cannot communicate without it or become a modern man, how can it be against such a system? You can say the Amish who live in Xanadu do, but their power is too thin.

It is difficult to oppose the system, but it is not just how to protest outside the system, but how to keep it different? The new economy depends on the difference (according to Bateson's definition, the information is different, the difference that makes a difference) to drive. But it's not just "different," but the difference between the connections (connected difference). The Aborigines who live in the remote Amazon jungle have a very different view of the world. They have a system of knowledge that is separate from science, which is highly consistent with their own system, but because it has no contact with us, it does not affect the rest of the world.

The key is to keep the difference in the connection. The problem with the connection is that it tends to assimilate everyone, so if you do come in, you will be under pressure. Walk into any big city in the world and you'll find the city center is the same. Connections make things tend to be consistent, but the value and power behind the connection remains the same. This is the problem of keeping the difference in the connection, because your light stays different and does not fit into the system, and your differences are not powerful. You have to be part of a unified standard, but keep a certain amount of difference. It's like you don't want to invent meaningless new words. The old Cifu new meaning is the difference with the standard.

It's a challenge for artists and protesters as for those who are trying to change, whether you want to connect in but stay different. A huge challenge that needs to be handled with great skill and some artistry, but your influence is different.

Somebody's going to be the boss.

In the network economy, which is dominated by enterprises rather than government, there are always people who will become bosses. Corporate power is growing, and then the same problem will arise, if you are a protester, you can only do what the other person allows you to do, otherwise they will withdraw your information, close your email account, and prevent you from paying electronically. You can only be as non-violent as Gandhi, wandering around the edge. But there are more ways to circumvent them than the government. Google stops the mailbox and we have other ways to send emails.
