Mofcom welcomes WTO decision on China v. US Poultry meat restriction measures

The head of the law department of the Ministry of Commerce has welcomed the decision of the WTO dispute Settlement Body on China v. US Poultry restriction measures, October 25, the WTO Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) formally approved the "China v. U.S. Poultry restriction measures case" expert Group report.　　The report ruled that the provisions of the 2009 Consolidated Appropriations Act to restrict Chinese poultry meat were incompatible with WTO rules. China welcomes the formal adoption of the report by the WTO, the head of the law division said recently. For a long time, the restrictions imposed by the US on Chinese poultry have seriously hindered the export of Chinese poultry meat to the United States and damaged the rights and interests of Chinese enterprises under the multilateral trading system.　　The WTO report clearly shows that the US's previous restrictions on Chinese poultry were not justified. The official reiterated that China hoped the US side would attach importance to China's concerns and take further positive measures to eliminate any discriminatory measures specifically aimed at Chinese poultry meat.
