Only 0.15% of industrial enterprises carrying out cleaner production audit in China

BEIJING, October 25 (reporter Zoya) China's energy utilization rate is lower than the developed countries ' level of about 9%, unit output energy consumption of about 3 times times in the United States, 7 times times in Japan; the sugar industry tons of products fresh water intake is more than 11 times times the international advanced level.　　Miao Wei, deputy minister of Industry and Information technology, said at the National Industrial Clean Production Conference today that the implementation of cleaner production is an important hand in building resource-conserving and environment-friendly industries. "Since the implementation of the Clean Production Promotion Act in 2003, by the end of 2009, the implementation of cleaner production has reduced chemical oxygen demand 2.27 million tons, 712,000 tons of sulfur dioxide, water-saving 11.8 billion tons, energy-saving 49.32 million tons of standard coal." Miao Wei said, "But China's understanding of clean production is not deep, attention is not enough, clean production work has not been fully pushed away." By 2009, the industrial enterprises that carried out cleaner production audits accounted for only 0.15%. Miao Wei pointed out that the implementation of cleaner production plan should be conscientiously carried out in the industrial field in the new period. At present, the main reason for the unsatisfactory implementation of the program is that the environmental characteristics of the project are outstanding, the economic benefits are not obvious, and the enterprise enthusiasm is not high.
