Professor Lawrence Lau to be chairman of CIC Hong Kong Branch

Liu Zunyi will serve as Hong Kong's chairman of the "Caixin Net" (Hong Kong journalist Wang Duan) CIC set up a branch in Hong Kong in September, chaired by Professor Lawrence Lau, a former head of the Chinese University and a government think-tank. CIC-related people confirmed the news to Caixin journalists.　　According to information provided by the Hong Kong Companies Registry, CIC is registered as CIC International (Hong Kong) Limited with the registration date of September 10 this year.　　CIC also said that the next few days will hold a branch establishment ceremony. Liu Zunyi is a Hong Kong economist who served as president of the Chinese University of Hong Kong from July 2004 to June 2010.　　Liu Zunyi is also a member of Hong Kong Executive Council, the 11th session of the CPPCC Economic Committee members. In July this year, he was the vice-president of Citic Capital.　　It also stepped down as a member of the International Advisory Board of CIC in the same month. CIC's opening of a branch in Hong Kong reflects CIC's intention to become a global investment group, Reuters said.
