The company has confirmed the news.　　A representative of Sony's Network entertainment department said layoffs were meant to improve operational efficiency and cut costs. The department recently suffered a heavy blow in the new 3D virtual world, the free nation game. However, Sony has been restructuring all its operations to cope with a general decline in profits.
