A few days ago, Sony announced the next generation of PlayStation, a new generation of handheld code NGP (Next generation Portable), using a 5-inch OLED high-resolution (960x544) screen, support touch operation, support 3G, WiFi network and GPS and so on. Most exciting of all, NGP is equipped with four core processors based on ARM Crotex A9 architecture, and the GPU is a quad-core PowerVR SGX 543. This can not help but let many windows enthusiasts guess, Sony's arm-based handheld machine should be able to run Windows 8! Microsoft announced at the beginning of January CES 2011 that the next Windows will support the ARM architecture, and demonstrated that Windows 8 is running on the arm platform, and that the demo version is just the initial development version of Windows 8 Milestone 1 (build 6.2.7867). Microsoft also announced that arm manufacturers such as NVIDIA, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments were producing arm processors for next-generation Windows systems. The next generation of Windows can be run natively on ARM chips with full operating system capabilities, and provide native drivers and applications to support hardware acceleration. This is very attractive to any arm device. Sony NGP is scheduled to be released this Christmas shopping season, when Microsoft is most likely to have released a public beta version of Windows 8. By then, the hackers will certainly not miss the Sony NGP, perhaps we can see Windows first appeared on the PSP.
