On September 28, Mark Ping Cass, Zynga's chief executive, said 33 million users around the world were playing Zynga's game in Sunday, the largest number of players in the company. Facebook says about half of its 500 million users log on to social networks every day. By this calculation, about 13% of the 250 million users in the last Sunday played Zynga's game.
This data was disclosed by Mark Ping Cass at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in Monday. Of course, not all Zynga gamers are Facebook, and other wind stations like farmville.com, but most of Zynga's players are from Facebook. Last month, for example, the company pulled the game out of MSN Games, a testament to the company's poor operation on non-Facebook platforms.
According to AppData, about 48 million of Zynga's active users were in Sunday. Mark Ping Cass said 33 million may be the number of independent users, does not include users who repeatedly log on.
Despite the beauty of Zynga's data, the total number of users has fallen in the past few months. Users may have begun to tire of the Farmville of the main game, and other companies have launched similar competitive offerings, and Zynga needs to develop new products to keep users from losing.
Mark Ping Cass also mentions another data: Zynga records 1 million g of user data per day, adds 1000 server support games a week, and now has more than 200,000 servers.
Despite the decline in the number of users, however, VC character John Doerr called it "the 90 's art power." John Doerr, a former art executive, now runs a fund that invests in Zynga. (Spark)
