Enable CN domain name clearing in the Internet market

As the main domestic domain name, CN domain name is showing a rapid development trend. According to the latest Chinese Internet statistics report, as of December 2008, the number of websites under the CN domain name in China accounted for 77% of the total, occupying an absolute advantage. However, it has also become a hotspot for Trojan attacks. At present, efforts are being made to address these undesirable applications.

CN is growing above COM

With the increasing popularity of Internet applications, the demand for basic resources is becoming increasingly urgent. Statistics show that the number of CN domain names in China has reached 2008 by the end of 13.572 million. Entering the CN domain name has become a daily access habit for Chinese netizens. With its unique security and brand advantages, CN domain names not only become mainstream in key industries such as finance and energy, but also have a wide range of user groups in blog and personal album fields.

In contrast to the rapid growth of CN domain names, the registration volume of COM domain names is declining. According to data published by a U.S. data research company, COM domain names in April countries and regions experienced negative growth by the end of 142, while Hong Kong experienced the largest decline, but the mainland China continued to grow.

Among the 246 countries and regions in the world, the number of COM domain names registered in 142 countries and regions has declined, of which Hong Kong has the largest drop, developed countries such as the UK, Australia, Canada, and Germany have also experienced negative growth, but the Chinese mainland is still maintaining growth momentum. The growth rate is second only to that of the United States, ranking second. Insiders believe that the decline of COM domain names is related to the economic crisis on the one hand, and also implies that other suffix domain names will also decline in the near future.

Trojan websites are on the rise

Along with the rapid development of CN domain names, some undesirable applications have emerged. Although the proportion is very small, there are still adverse effects on Internet users. Although there is no direct relationship between the domain name and Trojan horse, the domain name is only responsible for addressing functions, but because a few people register a domain name to establish a website, the website is used for Trojans, this poor application of a small number of people has aroused misunderstandings about domain names.

According to the first quarter of 2009 security report released by rising companies, the number of users attacked by a single Trojan website has increased as hackers mount Trojans on large websites and popular software. According to statistics, the top two Trojan websites in the first quarter were gg6781.cn and sb3589.cn, respectively attacking more than 0.86 million of Internet users.

Experts said that the website domain names infected with Trojans only account for 0.1% of the domain name registration volume, but it is precisely the behavior of these few who bring confusion to tens of millions of domain name users and many Internet users, it also caused instability to the entire Internet.

Comprehensive Launch of governance actions

In order to continue to reassure users of using the CN domain name, CNNIC will continue to clean up the bad applications under the CN domain name in 2009 to build a prosperous and honest Internet.

CNNIC has recently joined forces with the National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center and the Chinese anti-phishing website alliance to launch green network security, to jointly cope with, prevent and manage Internet hazards such as viruses, Trojans, and phishing websites, and build a prosperous and honest new Internet order.

CNNIC said it is communicating with anti-virus software vendors such as rising star and Trend Micro, inviting them to join the green network security action, coordinating the sharing of network hazard information, and exploring the joint security protection mechanism, provide users with a good Internet environment.

Previously, in order to purify China's Internet environment, CNNIC proposed the establishment of the "anti-phishing website alliance" last year to address the increasingly rampant issue of phishing websites, and conducted large-scale cleaning of phishing. Since its establishment, the alliance has handled 4000 phishing websites and has made significant contributions to building an honest Internet environment. CNNIC also launched a domain name-based trusted network service, site guard and website guard, to build an Internet integrity authentication system in terms of verifying the real identity and encrypted information transmission.
