For Android 4.0
Android 4.0 corresponds to the "icecreamsandwich" milestone branch and has an API level of 14.
For Android 2.3
Android 2.3 corresponds to the "gingerbread" milestone branch and has an API level of 9. In versions 2.3.3 and higher, the API level is 10.
For Android 2.2
Android 2.2 corresponds to the "Froyo" milestone branch and has an API level of 8.
For Android 2.1
Android 2.1 corresponds to the "eclair" milestone branch and has an API level of 7.
The eclair Branch also uses 2.0 and 2.0.1; however, including these releases are soon obsolete in version 2.1 eclair release, as android2.1 includes key bug fixes and improvements not currently available in 2.0/2.0.1, only Android 2.1 should be used on new devices. For 2.0 or 2.0.1, this is an incompatible program. Officially compatible with eclair-based release is android2.1. (The Link document points to Android 2.0 because no new platform features are added to Android 2.1 .)
For Android 1.6
Android 1.6 corresponds to the "Donut" milestone branch and has an API Level 4.
For Android 1.5
Android 1.5 corresponds to the "cupcake" milestone branch and has an API level of 3.
For Android 1.1
Android 1.1 has an API Level 2. Android 1.1 is known as "Petit Four" in China, and these names are not used in official use.
For Android 1.0
Is the first release of Android with an API level of 1. Since it was the first Android version released, no platform highlights have been prepared for this release.
