Question 1. Why are there two access points?
After reading a large amount of data on the Internet and making repeated attempts and explorations, I have summarized the two methods of accessing the Internet: cmwap and cmnet. Generally, there is only one method of accessing the Internet through GPRS, why is there two cmwap and cmnet brothers in China? (The reason why the access point is configured separately for MMS is that the MMS Service needs to connect to a dedicated server, which is not discussed here .) In fact, cmwap and cmnet are only two GPRS access methods manually divided by China Mobile. The former is for mobile WAP Internet access, while the latter is mainly for the use of GPRS internet services such as PCs, laptops, and PDAs. There is no difference in their implementation methods, but because of their different positioning, cmwap has some restrictions and their charges are also different compared with cmnet.

Question 2. What is WAP?
WAP is only a GPRS application mode, and it has nothing to do with the GRPS access mode. WAP applications adopt the "terminal + WAP Gateway + WAP Server" mode, which is different from the general "terminal + server" mode of Internet. The main purpose is to achieve WAP-WEB protocol conversion through WAP gateway to save network traffic and compatibility with existing web applications.
From a technical perspective, the WAP Gateway is only a host that provides proxy services. It is not necessarily provided by network operators. But as far as I know, China Mobile's GPRS network currently only has one WAP Gateway: 10.0.0.172, which is provided by China Mobile for the WAP browsing (HTTP) service. Note that there is a difference between the WAP Gateway and the LAN gateway in the general sense. The standard WAP Gateway only implements the HTTP Proxy function and does not complete the functions of the LAN gateway such as routing and Nat. This determines the restrictions on the application.

Question 3. What are the limitations of China Mobile on cmwap?
China Mobile imposes certain limitations on cmwap in order to differentiate the two in applications, mainly because it can only access IP addresses in the GPRS network (10) during cmwap access. *. *. *), but cannot access the Internet through routing. (Mobile networks in a few regions may not have this restriction .) We use cmwap to browse Web pages on the Internet through the WAP Gateway Protocol or the HTTP proxy service it provides.
Speaking of this, I naturally think of the company's network. I believe many of my colleagues have similar experiences. The company's network does not provide routes and Nat on the gateway, but only provides an HTTP proxy that can access the Internet. In this way, we cannot directly use non-http protocol applications such as QQ and MSN (Fortunately, they also provide HTTP-based connections), and cmwap is exactly the same.

Problem 4. Applicability of cmwap and cmnet
The applicability of the two Internet connection methods is the most important question for everyone. Cmnet has full Internet access, which is not mentioned here. Let's take a look at cmwap. With the limitations mentioned above, the application scope of cmwap depends on the support provided by WAP Gateway. Currently, China Mobile's WAP Gateway only provides HTTP Proxy protocol (port 80 and port 8080) and WAP Gateway Protocol (Port 9201 ).
Therefore, only applications that meet the following conditions can work normally in China Mobile's cmwap access mode:
1. ApplicationProgramThe Network request is based on the HTTP protocol.
2. Applications Support HTTP Proxy protocol or WAP gateway protocol.

Question 5: How can I identify whether an application's network request is based on the HTTP protocol?
This question is really hard to answer. To achieve this completely, we need to analyze it by intercepting the application's communication data packets. Here we provide a few simple methods for our friends: in terms of performance, if its network request is in the form of a URL, it is usually based on the HTTP protocol, for example, a Web browser. If the port connecting to the server is port 80, it may be based on the HTTP protocol.

Question 6: How do I distinguish an application that supports the HTTP Proxy protocol or the WAP gateway protocol?
First, check whether there is any proxy server option in its settings. If yes, it indicates that it supports the HTTP Proxy protocol. If not, perform the following steps:
Remove the proxy server setting item from the advanced settings of the GPRS Access Point: server address and server port. If the application can work normally, it is based on the WAP gateway protocol, such as Java programs and s60 built-in browsers. If the proxy server in the advanced settings of the GPRS connection point fails to work normally, the application supports the HTTP Proxy Protocol (the proxy settings are read from the system ). If it still cannot work normally, this application generally does not support HTTP proxy or WAP Gateway.
Javaqq has two versions: socket and HTTP. Currently, the javaqq that can be used for cmwap on the internet is based on the HTTP protocol. Taking javaqq 2004 as an example, the startup screen clearly says "kjava qq http ". The SIS version of QQ and agilemessenger (s60 MSN client) is a common socket connection method, so it cannot be used for cmwap.

SMS

Mobile phones can send and receive text messages from each other. The content is mainly text, digital, or binary non-text data, currently, the length of such short messages is limited to 140 bytes. SMS is welcomed and rapidly popularized by users with simple and convenient functions, but it is always the first generation of offline data services, with restrictions on content and application technical standards.

EMS
EMS (enhanced message service) stands for enhanced short message service. Compared with SMS, it can send text messages like SMS, and send simple images, sounds, animations, and other messages. Its greater advantage is that EMS can still run on the GSM network where the original SMS runs, and there is no difference between the transmission path and operation method. This standard is open, so any third-party company or individual interested in EMS can develop application software and services on this platform. However, due to the technical incompatibility of various mobile phone brands, in actual use, the above transfer can only be achieved between mobile phones of the same brand. Therefore, the practicality needs to be further improved.

MMS
MMS is short for Multimedia Messaging Service. It is translated into multimedia information service (MMS) in Chinese ", it is the latest business developed in accordance with 3GPP standards and WAP Forum standards related to multimedia information standards. Its biggest characteristic is its support for multimedia functions, with the support of GPRS, CDMA 1X, 3G, and edge, you can transmit short videos, images, sounds, and texts using the WAP Wireless Application Protocol as the carrier, in addition to transmitting data between mobile phones, the transmission mode can also be between mobile phones and computers. The unique feature of mobile phones with MMS features is its built-in media Editor, which allows users to easily write multimedia information. Qq settings:
Open QQ, select the Proxy Server HTTP, proxy IP address or 10.0.0.172, port 80.
After you have used up, remember to disconnect the connection and then unplug the phone data line. If you do not do this, the computer will go wrong!

The WAP monthly subscription card can be used at will, and other machines should also be able to use the China Mobile Communications Client to configure it.
