The clever use of disk quotas makes hackers unable to get started

In most cases, hackers must upload Trojans or backdoor programs to the remote system to intrude into the remote system. How can we cut off the hacker's path? The disk quota function in the NTFS file system helps you easily manage disk space usage.

1. Right-click an NTFS partition in the system and select "attribute" to open the "partition attribute settings window" and select the "quota" option. Check "enable quota management" and "Deny disk space to users who have exceeded the quota". All the quota options will be available.

2. Select the "disk space limit" option. In this case, we can specify the size of the disk space used by users in the system, such as 1 kb. In this way, if you pass in a file larger than 1 kb in the partition, the file will be rejected by the system and cannot be smoothly transmitted to the partition.

3. similarly, the "disk space limit" option also has a "Warning Level" option. If the file size at the warning level is set, when the user exceeds the warning level during disk space usage, the system will prompt the user that the file has exceeded the warning level in the disk quota.

4. finally, you can select the "record events when the user exceeds the quota limit" and "record events when the user exceeds the warning level" options, in this way, if other users in the system exceed the partition warning level and quota limit, the system will automatically record these events to the system log, it is very helpful for administrators to monitor the system partition space (figure 1 ).

5. after setting these configuration options, click "OK" in the window to complete the initial configuration of the Disk Quota function. At this time, you are surprised to find that, there are still a lot of partitions available, and there is little space available now.

6. At this time, you cannot write files larger than the quota to this partition. This configuration takes effect for all users in the system, including users in the Administrators group.

7. however, if the configuration takes effect for all users in the system, it is obviously inconvenient for users to perform operations on the system. The Disk Quota function also provides a function to divide the space used by different users. The implementation method is also very simple. Click the "quota items" button in the quota Configuration window. The "partition quota items" window is displayed. Click the "quota" option in the upper-left corner of the window, then select "create quota item" (figure 2). A user selection window is displayed, in which you can enter or select a user name (such as XieWei) in the system ), after confirmation, a disk space restriction option will appear for the user. You can reasonably specify the space for the user based on the user's permissions and usage in the system, this configuration does not affect conventional system operations, but also enhances system security.
