The Sina Science and technology news Beijing time July 4 evening message, AMD already announced the new Hondo APU (acceleration processor) some details.  Hondo APU is a follow-on product of AMD's Desna Apu for Tablet PCs. The new Hondo chip is based on a modified, power-optimized bobcat core aimed at Windows 8 devices. Hondo will bring better energy efficiency. AMD said that the chip chipset with the "application Power" of about 2W, and thermal design power consumption of less than 4.5W. Hondo has a significant improvement in this aspect relative to Desna. The latter's "Application Power" is 4W and the thermal design power is 5.9W.  The new chips will continue to use the 40 nm process. The Hondo will be part of the new BRAZOS-T platform and will be based on the newly-Hudson M2T Fusion Controller Center. The new Hudson M2T was redesigned on the Hudson M3 basis, and the input output was optimized for power consumption, and the secure Digital Input Output interface (SDIO) was supported for WiFi.  The Hudson m2t is smaller than the Hundson M1 currently used by the Brazos platform, and AMD removes some of the unwanted features of the tablet, reducing power consumption. However, Hondo has not been significantly improved in terms of performance, integrating dual-core 1GHZ processors and the same HD 6250 graphics core. This is more than enough for a tablet computer. The new chip will be out at the end of the year and will be mass-produced in the second quarter of 2012. AMD plans to replace Hondo with Samara chips in 2013. (D-Gold)
