But is it safer to lock data in a safe than cloud computing?

An earlier survey of cloud computing for domestic companies, one respondent said he would never use cloud computing because the cloud was unsafe, and he would rather save the data every day in a removable hard drive and lock the safe.
 
Indeed, data security is one of the most worrying issues for the vast majority of business IT professionals in choosing cloud computing providers, and in which countries.

But is it safer to lock data in a safe, or on a local server, than cloud computing?

Information security company Alert Logic has reached a negative conclusion after investigating 70,000 security incidents in a year of 1600 companies.

Surveys show that network application attacks are the most frequent hacker attacks in a business. But on average, companies using local IT facilities have experienced network-application attacks of up to 61.4, much higher than those using cloud computing (on average 27.8). Moreover, local IT facilities are far more vulnerable to Trojans than cloud computing services (36% VS 4%).

The rationale behind this is not complicated:
 
Technology accumulation
 
Most of the company's core business is not IT, and technology accumulation is limited. In contrast, Microsoft's first Data center, Building 11, started running as early as 1989 years, even earlier than the Windows system. More than 20 years of data center development and operation experience are used in Windows Azure public cloud computing platform.

Massive investment in

core business not it means that the vast majority of corporate IT departments have limited funding, and cloud computing providers have diametrically opposed budget allocations. With the growth of Windows Azure, Microsoft continues to add research and development inputs, and the current annual research and development investment in cloud computing has surpassed the turnover of most companies.

The nature of cloud computing is economies of scale that allow companies of any size to use cutting-edge security technologies. Windows Azure users and Microsoft's own Office 365, Hotmail, Xbox Live service use the same platform, using exactly the same technology. Windows Azure, for example, automatically saves three copies of storage or virtual machine data in each datacenter, and users can implement offsite disaster backup in two different regions of the data center with just two mouse clicks. Enterprise Data Center to achieve the same reliable off-site multi-point disaster backup will face cost pressures.

Tried and tested

The Windows Azure storage service has stored more than 4 trillion objects per second, with a maximum of more than 880,000 access requests and over 1 billion end-user services worldwide. Numerous problems have been found and resolved in the high-intensity use of the past few years, clearing the way for enterprise applications.
 
Cloud Computing with the local data center which is more secure is like putting money home and putting the bank on which is safer. I do not doubt that some mansions are safer than banks, but how many companies have the same security-related IT facilities as Azure, and how much data can be placed on safe facilities? Not much, according to the Logic Alert survey.
 
Perhaps the more important question is: which cloud computing provider is more reliable and trustworthy?
