In Thailand and across the Asia-Pacific region, cloud computing is considered the next biggest move of information and communication technology (ICT).

It is predicted that the global cloud computing market will continue to grow at a compound annual rate of 28%, and by 2015, the global cloud-driven job opportunities will reach 14 million, and the new IT business output from cloud computing will reach $1.1 trillion a year. Cloud computing has become a new and mainstream trend in the enterprise, and will completely change the existing situation.

Gartner, the analyst, predicts that the total value of public cloud services this year will reach $109 billion trillion, while the European Union predicts that cloud computing will increase their GDP by 206 billion trillion a year 2020 years ago. By the end of 2016, more than 50% of the world's top 1000 companies will store important customer data on the public cloud.

Economic growth in the Asia-Pacific region remains stable, with the key impact on the performance of Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and their situation, as the Asia-Pacific region has a ratio of 95% small and medium-sized enterprises, with a population of half of the region, and 30% to 60% per cent of GDP.

Asia Cloud Computing Association

The Asia Cloud Computing Association, established in September 2010, is designed to actively promote the more reliable cloud computing and the need to deal with this common platform. The Board of Trustees held a roundtable meeting last week in the Thai capital, Bangkok, to discuss the current situation and future trends of cloud computing in Thailand and throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

The Asia-Pacific region faces special challenges in the use of cloud computing. The association's goal is to promote the adoption of cloud computing across the region, with its members including a large number of influential cloud service providers, cloud consumers and government cloud-related people who are exploring barriers to the cloud adoption process and providing better cloud services.

The Asia Cloud Computing Society's mission is to link the Asia-Pacific cloud computing stakeholders, promote collaboration and regional cloud computing growth, provide a platform for members to discuss cloud strategy, share ideas, build mechanisms, provide quality training platforms, and ensure a rapid convergence of views across cloud computing communities. It also provides certification and training services to meet related needs and promote the establishment of cloud computing ecosystems. The Association also strives for the advancement of standardization, explaining the value of cloud computing products and services for enterprises and consumers.

At the national level, the Cloud Security Alliance Thailand Branch was formally established last month as a non-profit branch of the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) to promote the adoption and promotion of cloud computing in Thailand. Its main role is to introduce the best practices for cloud security, provide education and certification in cloud computing, assist CSA in cloud Security Research and guide the Thai market.

Smart Thailand 2020 Strategic Plan

In the long term, Thailand's e-government Cloud project is part of the "Smart Thailand 2020" strategy of its Ministry of Information and Communications technology, and is at the heart of the "smart government". The 3 core of the strategy is "smart government", "Wisdom Network" and "Wisdom province".

Attaphon Satidkanitkul, IDC Asia-Pacific research manager, who touches on products and consultancy, said government departments should continue to play an active role, using the government Cloud (G-cloud) and the Government Information Network (GIN) to respond to the call of the smart Thailand program. But there are also problems, such as the inability to determine whether companies can make good use of emerging technologies such as cloud computing's big data.

Asia Pacific Cloud adopts opportunities and challenges

Thanachart Numnonda, director of IMC, said cloud computing is also an opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises to use these technologies to reduce their investment in the business, and the total cost of ownership is no longer available, as new forms of service are paid only on demand. So they can focus more money and manpower on improving their business. 、

Cloud computing is one of the four strategies of the IMC Association, including cloud computing, mobile technology, social technology and large data. These trends have had an impact on the IT industry, especially in the software industry. IMC's mission is to manage and guide the market in Thailand and to study it human capital for emerging technologies. Training for it and non-it people on emerging technologies. Training courses are for business executives and IT professionals. At the same time for the start-up companies (especially the new technology industry) to provide matching support for the 2015-year ASEAN Economic Community to prepare.

In Thailand, cloud computing opportunities are huge, and with the rise in the use of smart devices such as smartphones and platforms, large companies are also investing in private cloud construction. Public cloud services, especially infrastructure, the service IaaS, are in great demand, and the data centers in Thailand are already offering IAAS services, while independent software vendors are exploring the SaaS model.

However, Thannachart said that for small and medium-sized enterprises, there are also some problems in the face of cloud services, including the lack of understanding of cloud computing and misunderstanding, security considerations, low network access speed, data protection related laws, the number of local cloud service providers, and so on.
