November 23 International Report: EMC upgraded its atmos Cloud IBuySpy Platform in Monday, adding a number of advanced cloud detection services and advanced management reporting and control capabilities. It also adds Atmos geodrive support for the Linux environment.
"We found that service providers and enterprise users are very interested in this, and they want to deploy both public and private cloud storage systems, both from Atmos Cloud IBuySpy," said Mike Feinberg, general Manager and senior vice president of EMC Cloud Infrastructure group Macfei. Platform's new features have benefited. Our customers will find that they spend less time preparing, managing, and accounting, and their cost centers become more profitable. With our newly released Atmos Cloud IBuySpy Platform and geodrive for Linux, we have taken a big step forward in product development, but more importantly, our customers can take a giant step forward in their business. ”
EMC has packaged the latest Atmos Cloud IBuySpy Platform 1.1 as a VMware virtual application for faster and more intuitive installation, which is said to take only a few minutes to complete the installation process with a click of the mouse. The updated management interface adds lifecycle management capabilities that allow administrators to monitor individual accounts and respond quickly to capacity requests, service level changes, and account modifications. It also provides self-service access, management, and reporting capabilities in broadband and capacity usage.
Atmos geodrive software allows users to access cloud storage resources through a drive letter similar to the internal drive on a client machine. Although previously used only in Windows environments, EMC has increased support for the Redhat and SLEs Linux platforms, providing the ability to quickly retrieve the cloud without writing a single line of code, extending the customer's self-service infrastructure. EMC says Geodrive does not require API integration for Atmos based clouds, but also adds a rich set of features and security features, including encryption, compression, and throttling.
Simon Robinson, director of 451Group Storage research at the Market Research Institute, said: "In a recent survey by the Simon Rubinson, IT professionals found that the two biggest hurdles to cloud deployment were change/learning and complexity. All in all, these two areas represent 85% of respondents ' responses to the biggest hurdles. With the release of geodrive for Windows and Linux environments, EMC is committed to addressing these two major issues by simplifying cloud accessibility and availability. With upgrades to Atmos Cloud IBuySpy Platform 1.1, EMC delivers a higher level of speed, simplicity, and automation to this highly optimized solution.
Atmos Cloud IBuySpy Platform was released a year ago to help service providers build and operate their own service-oriented storage products and help enterprises transform it capabilities into internal services. One of the key features is enabling users and service providers to create and monitor self-service functionality for Atmos accounts without the help of a service provider or IT professional.
