November 26, Google officially announced to all developers Open glass mirror API on Google Plus. Previously, to access the glass mirror API must have glass hardware devices, now do not need hardware devices can also develop related applications.
There are currently two ways to develop applications for glass. One is through the mirror API, which allows developers to asynchronously push and extract information to devices and then present them in a card-type interactive interface. This approach focuses on news applications, social networking services and other services.
For application developers who need real-time access to Glass hardware and want to display information outside the card interface, Google launched the Glass Development Kit (Gdk:glass Development kit) last week. Glass GDK has opened up a whole new series for developers to try out more possibilities. But GDK is slightly more complicated than the mirror API, and any web developer can write the mirror API, but they don't necessarily write gdk applications.
So far, Google has allowed only a handful of apps to be integrated into the "glassware" directory, but many applications based on the mirror API have long been developed. The Mirror API is now officially open to all developers, and developers do not need glass hardware devices. Google's move will boost the development of more glass applications.
