Samsung has just released a health tracking wrist strap device--simband based on open source platform Sami. Its functional feature is the ability to measure and track human health data through optical sensors and bioelectrical impedance sensors.
Simband's hardware and software systems will be fully open to developers and module makers, and Samsung is trying to innovate the wearable devices by opening up the entire system platform and modular hardware to developers.
According to published messages, hardware developers will be able to create their own hardware modules and implant them on the Samsung Simband wrist strap. The Software API interface is provided through the Sami cloud platform, and all data collected will be kept in the cloud.
However, Simband does not go on sale immediately because the API interface for the software will not be available until the second half of the year, and some sensors are being perfected.
