PHP contains an optional XML extension that supports the expat parser. PHP and XML-related functions allow you to create a parser to handle valid XML documents. If you are using the Apache version after the 1.3.7, then you don't need any additional library of functions. And all you have to do is configure Php--with-xml.
There are several good examples of PHP-based XML parsers that are created in the manual. In addition, the New Riders Book Web application Development with PHP 4.0 also has a detailed description of the XML usage combined with PHP, one of the authors of which has written quite a few guidelines on zend.com.
Like Java and COM support, PHP's support for XML is still in its infancy, but the area is growing fast. If you have a expat or libxml experience, you can skip over the content and use your expertise directly.
