Today, the Canonical mobile phone brand UbuntuEdge, on the page of the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo, shows that the fundraising for this project has already exceeded $10.6 million. This broke the $10.26 million fundraising record previously created by Pebble smart watches on KickStarter and became the most frequently-raised product in the current fixed fundraising project. However, UbuntuEdge is set too high ($32 million) as a fundraising target, which requires it to be required within the remaining five days
Today, the Canonical self-owned mobile phone brand Ubuntu Edge shows on the page of the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo that the fundraising for this project has already exceeded $10.6 million. This broke the $10.26 million fundraising record previously created by Pebble smart watches on KickStarter and became the most frequently-raised product in the current fixed fundraising project. However, Ubuntu Edge had to raise $32 million in the remaining five days because of its high fundraising target ($21.4 million, otherwise, it will return all fundraising funds to its supporters. As a matter of fact, Canonical was also lowered from $775 to $695 due to a poor fundraising price for Ubuntu Edge.
It is worth mentioning that the fund-raising amount of a previous project is higher than that of Ubuntu Edge, that is, the space simulation game Star Citizen of developer Cloud Imperium Games, with a fundraising amount of $15 million. But the problem is that this project does not have a fixed fundraising goal like Pebble and Ubuntu Edge. It has raised $2.1 million on KickStarter before it starts funding on its official website.
The Ubuntu Edge with a metal shell is equipped with a 4.5 inch 1280x720 resolution sapphire glass screen. The Edge does not blindly chase pixel density, it focuses more on the Color accuracy and the dynamic range of imaging (that is, the greater contrast between light and shade ). The mobile phone "selects the fastest multi-core processor on the market", 4 gb ram and 128 GB storage, the pursuit of ultra-long battery, and built-in dual-LTE chips. In terms of software, Edge integrates Ubuntu Mobile with Ubuntu, and supports Android to implement integrated computing ".
