2010 Spring Java Platform Roundtable

Introduction: The Java™ platform is known for its stability and its community is quite active, but that does not mean that Java technology is mature enough. Oracle's acquisition of Sun Microsystems is the latest change in the process of redefining the Java industry. To get a sense of the information, the Java Technology Zone editor Jenni Aloi held a developerWorks round table of 9 thinkers in the-java community-discussing the current situation and trends in Java technology, culture, and industry.

Since Oracle announced its intention to buy Sun Microsystems last year, the Java developer community has begun to argue about changes in the Java landscape and how it will affect the future of the Java platform.

In fact, the development of Java technology has always been a contentious topic, some of whom believe that the technology has come to an end in its 15th year. As a result, the industry is stunned by the outstanding recovery of the Java platform and Library, as enterprise developers have begun to address the problem of solution reliability and scalability.

To start the discussion, we asked the attendees what the biggest challenge and opportunity the java-based developers face today.
