For many Windows Phone users, the problem they are most concerned with is what is in the "other" store, causing a lot of room to be eaten. Joe Belfiore, vice president of Microsoft's Windows Phone planning and management department, specifically mentioned the issue on Sina Weibo.
Joe Belfiore is extremely photogenic, and he is likely to appear in every important press release and promotional film for Windows Phone. In order to express the importance to the Chinese market, this July he formally entered Sina Weibo, answering questions from domestic users.
The Microsoft executive said the most-asked question since he opened the microblog was the mystery of the "other" storage area. To this end, the Windows Phone China website specifically updated the operation instructions "' Other ' phone storage FAQ" to answer these questions.
According to Microsoft, "other" stores include files that are not categorized into other types of manageable files, temporary files, and cell phones that are not recognized as mysterious, but a miscellaneous label. The calculation formula for its size is: Total storage space – Category file – Available storage = "other".
Microsoft has given two solutions to the concerns about how to remove "other" content, the most familiar of which is the "storage check function" that is exclusive to the Lumia series of handsets. In addition, Windows phone 8 automatically clears a small number of temporary files on a daily basis. If the phone has less available storage than 6% of the total storage space, or less than MB (depending on which condition is satisfied first), a cleanup process will be triggered, only the temporary file is clear.
In this operation, Microsoft admits that there are some minor problems with the system, such as the application of photos and classification errors in the Nokia camera, but the company says it is working on a solution.
