Vector graphs and bitmap vectors-perfect geometry

Vectors are the basic elements of a graph, such as points, lines, polygons, borders, fill colors, and other information that are displayed graphically by means of calculations. It's like we're describing a circle in geometry that can be described by its center position and radius, and, of course, by the thickness of the border, the color, and the color of the fill to describe its style. And when the computer is displayed, it uses this data to map out the images we define.

The advantage is that the file is relatively small and zoomed out without distortion.

The disadvantage is that these perfect geometric figures are difficult to express the natural high realistic image.

It should be emphasized that the images we use on our web pages are bitmaps , even if some are called vector graphics (such as vector icons, etc.) and are drawn by vector tools and then converted to bitmap format for use on the web. (different from pixel-drawn graphics).

Bitmap-Magical Jigsaw puzzles

Bitmaps are also called pixel or raster plots, which store and display images by recording information such as the color, depth, and transparency of each point in the image. A bitmap is like a big puzzle, except that each tile is a solid pixel, and when we put the pixels of these different colors together in a certain order, we form the image we see. So when we zoom in on a pixel chart, we can see the same pixel dots (for example) of these pieces.

The advantage is that it is beneficial to display realistic images with rich color levels.

The disadvantage is that the file size is large, and zooming in and out of the image is distorted.

Although the jpg, PNG, and GIF images we use in our web pages are bitmaps , they all save and display the images by recording the data of the pixels, but the images in these different formats differ in the way they are recorded. This is the difference between lossy compression and lossless compression.

lossy compression and lossless compression lossy compression-what you see is not necessarily true

According to my understanding lossy compression is not completely true when the image is stored, the data information of each pixel in the image is recorded, it will observe the real-world characteristics according to the human eye (the sensitivity of the human eye to light is higher than the color sensitivity, Biological experiments have shown that when the color is missing, the human brain uses the closest color in the vicinity to automatically fill the missing color, processing the image data, removing the details that are ignored by the human eye in the image, and filling it with gradients or other forms using nearby colors. This can greatly reduce the data volume of the image information, without affecting the image restoration effect.

JPG is the most common image format for image information processing using lossy compression. JPG will decompose the image into a 8*8 pixel raster (such as) when storing the image, and then compress the data for each raster, and when we zoom in on an image, we will find that many of the details in these 8*8 pixel rasters are removed, And some special algorithms are used to fill the nearby colors (to make it clearer that I'm adjusting the compression ratio of the image to very low). This is why we use JPG to store images that sometimes produce blocky blur.
