Azure advanced strategy Alibaba Azure network connectivity, PsPing & PaPing tell you the answer, azurepsping

Many times, to solve some problems, you need to check various documents. Is it very troublesome for you to create them! Being a "reaching out to the party" is easy to despise and needs to be used at this time 【Azure advanced strategy]Now! Here, we will launch a series of articles on common Azure operation guides. Each article involves a problem during the use of Azure, which helps you quickly solve Azure usage problems and obstacles, you can continue to enjoy the cloud in just one or two minutes ~

In the world of technicians and network engineers, there are some well-known troubleshooting methods, such:

-Ping a computer and check if it is on,

-I can Ping a vro but cannot Ping the Internet. What is the problem?

-Ping may not be caused by network failure. You should first shut down the firewall and try again,

-I pinged the packet loss rate of 75%! Something went wrong.

......

Generally, Ping commands are used to test whether data packets can reach a specific host through the IP protocol. The Ping Command sends an IMCP Echo request packet to the target host and waits for receiving the Echo response packet. The packet loss rate and network latency are estimated based on the response time and the number of successful responses.

However, due to its limitations, in Azure, ICMP packets cannot pass through the firewall and Load balancer, therefore, you cannot directly use Ping to test the connectivity between virtual machines and services in Azure (the traffic in VPN and ExpressRoute channels does not pass through the Load balancer, so as long as the firewall on the link allows ICMP packet transmission, ping is still available ).

To test connectivity in Azure, such as testing the availability of RDP and SSH ports, or the stability of HTTP and HTTPS services, or even testing the connection from Azure to external services, in this case, PsPing or PaPing becomes a good choice.

PsPing is one of the tools in the Microsoft PSTools tool suite. In addition to ICMP Ping testing, PsPing can also be used to test TCP port connectivity, TCP/UDP network latency and bandwidth.

Currently, PsPing can only be run in Windows. If you need to test TCP port connectivity and network latency in Linux, you can choose to use PaPing. PaPing is a cross-platform open-source tool. Its function is simpler than PsPing. It only supports TCP port testing and does not support UDP port testing.

Simply put, we can understand PsPing and PaPing as Ping tools for the Azure cloud environment. Considering that the Ping command is widely used in the local environment, as you migrate to the cloud and start to use Azure, it is necessary to prepare the corresponding tools for backup!
