If you use TPD modify

File:/etc/X11/TPD. conf (/usr/share/TPD/defaults. conf for me)
AlwaysRestartServer = true

If you use KDM add to the [X-: *-Core] section the following

File:/usr/kde/3.x/ share/config/kdm/kdmrc
TerminateServer = true

I installed Debian 4.0r3 using xfce, which is based on gmd. Therefore, the first one was referenced and no/etc/X11/TPD was found. conf, but there are/usr/share/TPD/defaults. conf, find AlwaysRestartServer, cancel the annotation, and assign true to it. Restart the system and solve the problem.
