At four o'clock P.M. on June 23, October 12, a survey report released by a security lab showed that the number of fraudulent websites that defraud users to provide daily security data, credit card information, and other confidential information is growing rapidly.
A fraudulent website for the purpose of deceiving an individual to provide confidential information collects similar information while committing a product or service. Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG) once said that the number of fraudulent websites increased by about 50% every month and continued to grow exponentially, this new and more advanced anti-fraud website has also begun to spread, increasing the threshold for Internet Fraud websites.
Fraudulent websites use email to lure Internet users to fake websites. These websites use copies of images or appearances to impersonate established institutions, such as a bank or retail company, defrauding the user's confidence and believing that the website is trustworthy. It seems legal to have been discovered by the security lab for the latest confidential websites. The only online commercial website that copies the appearance of existing organizations makes it quite different from the common fraud practices. Through emails, web links, and search engines, these stolen websites claim to provide real products or services, making them look and feel like real online sellers. For example, users think they are buying office supplies, applying for a discount agreement or applying for a loan from a legal aspect, so they provide personal financial information to the stolen website. Once they submit an order or application, their personal information is stolen.
The security lab has identified several characteristics of the stolen website, including:
· Traditional drug stores, banks, mortgages, and payment websites are the most common tricks;
· Most stolen websites use fake contact information or do not have contact information (excluding temporary email addresses), or their websites cannot provide services;
· Stealing websites is usually maintained for 8.5 days, and the lifetime is longer than that of fraudulent websites;
· Stealing links between websites and high-traffic spam Networks;
· The vast majority of stolen website hosts are not in the United States.
Dan Hubbard, director of security and technical investigation at the security lab, said: "the continuous development of the Internet has become a media of attacks. Hackers use the means to cheat casual or enterprise website users and become victims of identity theft. As hacking techniques become increasingly sophisticated, we expect this problem to only deteriorate. New technologies used to lure users are constantly being developed, and accuracy, creativity, and sophistication are constantly improving. The fake interests lie, and the behavior of users who are easy to Trust continues to grow ."
