Clearing SQL Server logs

--clearing the log in SQL2008 must be done in simple mode, and then back to full mode when the purge is complete.

Use [master]
GO

--gpslocus is the name of the database to clear the log
ALTER DATABASE [Jm-fmis] SET RECOVERY simple with no_wait
GO
ALTER DATABASE [Jm-fmis] SET RECOVERY Simple--Easy mode
GO
Use [Jm-fmis]
GO

--gpslocus_log is a log file name and can be queried by sys.database_files table
--select file_id, name from sys.database_files
DBCC shrinkfile (N ' Jm-fmis_log ', 11,truncateonly)
GO

Use [master]
GO
ALTER DATABASE [Jm-fmis] SET RECOVERY full with no_wait
GO
ALTER DATABASE [Jm-fmis] SET RECOVERY full--Revert to complete mode
