Today, I have seen endless discussions about Debian and Ubuntu. I also want to talk about my feelings. I have used both releases, and the result is that Debian wins. now I feel that Debian is superior, not comparable to other releases. I will explain the reasons for my choice from the following aspects: 1. stability: the stability of Debian far exceeds that of Ubuntu.

Today, I have seen endless discussions about Debian and Ubuntu. I also want to talk about my feelings.
I have used both releases, and the result is that Debian wins. now I feel that Debian is superior, not comparable to other releases. The reasons for my choice are described as follows:

I. stability
The stability of Debian is far higher than that of Ubuntu. this is my conclusion. I use Debian as a desktop system. as long as I don't use online banking, I basically don't use Windows. since I use it as a desktop system, I have to ensure that the software is not too old. so I only use testing for Debian, however, testing's Debian has never crashed, but it has experienced sudden crashes in several versions of Ubuntu. If an operating system does not give users a stable impression, it will inevitably lead to user abandonment.

II. customization
Debian is very customizable. I have customized a small Debian, and it has a sense of accomplishment. It also runs very fast at the same time. I like something that can be customized. of course, this is a kind of disease, and I like it. Debian is like cooking a dish. However, Ubuntu is a huge package, which is very bloated. it is like eating food in a restaurant, how the cook is made, and how the customer eats it, whether or not it matches the taste.
Ubuntu hides or encapsulates many places to make users feel easy to use. It is more and more like M $ Windows. I don't know what is behind this system, but I only know how to use it. For example, installing the graphics card driver on Ubuntu is completely dumb, but I don't know the Linux driver mechanism and how to manually install a driver. This is not conducive to the study of Linux, do not have access to the underlying and background, how to understand this system. Of course, this is related to user characteristics. if you just want to use Linux, you will think Ubuntu is very good. Customization is actually a kind of freedom. you can configure the system as you like. I don't want to lose this freedom.

III. psychological feelings
Debian's biggest feature is pure. it gives a sense of high elegance and excellence like a pure blood BMW. it does not mount many copyrighted packages by default as Ubuntu does, it cannot be said that Ubuntu is against laws. for example, w32codecs is an obviously infringing package, and Ubuntu is also loaded into it. Debian gives me more open-source and free software, while Ubuntu is getting farther and farther away. more than one person said that Ubuntu took away from Debian far more than it paid for Debian. In my personal psychological experience, I prefer Debian, which is low-key and calm. it is like a brave but unpretentious warrior, while Ubuntu is more like a young man who is noble.

4. applicable groups
Ubuntu has spent too much time beautifying and easy to use, even infringing others' copyrights. Ubuntu does not allow users to use Linux to work efficiently, but is more about using Linux. Debian provides users with a stable and fast system to learn how to use Linux efficiently. Ubuntu has done a very good job of promotion, which is very helpful for the popularization of Linux. in my opinion, the greatest contribution of Ubuntu to Linux is here. It allows more people who do not understand Linux to use Linux, so that more people can access Linux. I feel that Ubuntu is more suitable for beginners or users who are new to Linux. if you want to learn Linux, do not use it. Debian is more suitable. In the Debian configuration process, you can learn about Linux in every step. after all the steps are completed, you will not be able to understand what you learned in Ubuntu in just a few months. I don't know how to get started with Linux. I recommend Ubuntu instead of Debian. I think, when they have used some time and want to know what is behind Ubuntu, it's time to change Debian.

5. Summary
Ubuntu's outstanding publicity work is its contribution to the source community and GNU/Linux, which is worthy of recognition. Debian's contribution is too big. If GNU/Linux, open source and free software are an ideal, only Debian can carry this dream so far. Debian is developing slowly. the "market development method" is not inferior to the "Cathedral open mode", and it will gradually become more powerful. With commercial support, Ubuntu looks powerful and hopes to contribute more to open-source and free software in the future, rather than just asking for it. Ubuntu is more suitable for beginners, and Debian is suitable for users who are willing to toss. I am a tough guy, so I recommend Debian.
