Rea Hat provides a similar tool for SQL Storage Compress, and boasts a compression ratio of up to 90%. The SQL Storage Compress provides a 14-day usage version, and the installation starts the Hyperbac control Service after downloading. This service compresses or compresses SQL Server's read and write requests in conjunction with Windows I/O Manager, and has no effect on the users of SQL Servers. The working principle is shown in the following figure:
Sqlstorage compress can compress MDF, LDF, ndf files, but only for files, not for a single table or for a single index. Backup and restore are the same as normal SQL Server operations and do not provide a compressed backup.
Sqlstorage Compress provides a GUI that enables users to convert a database backup to a compressed database by restoring or T-SQL. Here is a test I did, probably compressed 50%.
The operating interface is as follows:
Did a bit of data test, insert 1000000 data, enable compressed database for 6 minutes, no compression enabled database ran for 6 minutes did not run, may be my IO is not good ah, on the server with SQL Server with compression, than not enable compression of the table to insert data slow.
