Exact number Type
Decimal[(p[, S])] and numeric[(p[, S]) are also referred to as numeric data types with fixed precision and decimal numbers.
Fixed precision and number of decimal places. When using maximum precision, valid values are from-10^38 +1 to 10^38-1.
P (Precision) The total number of decimal digits that can be stored up to a maximum, including the left and right digits of the decimal point. The precision must be a value from 1 to the maximum precision 38. The default precision is 18.
S (scale) the maximum number of decimal digits that can be stored to the right of the decimal point. The number of decimal places must be a value from 0 to P. You can specify the number of decimal places only after you specify the precision. The default number of decimal places is 0; therefore, 0 <= s <= p. The maximum storage size varies based on precision.
Approximate numbers
float [(N)]
where n is the number of digits that are used to store the mantissa of the float value (in scientific notation), so you can determine the precision and storage size. If n is specified, it must be a value between 1 and 53. The default value for N is 53.
