Comments: This article gives you a detailed description of the uninstall steps of McAfee and Agent and the importance of CMA. If you are interested, refer to the following, I hope to help you. 1. In the control panel, choose add or delete Programs> Delete "McAfee VirusScan Enterprise" and "McAfee AntiSpyware Enterprise Module"

2. Choose Console> Administrative Tools> services> disable the mcafee framework manager Service.

3. Start-run-Enter cmd-Enter "C: \ Program Files \ McAfee \ Common Framework \ frminst.exe"/forceuninstall (note that the quotation marks are included. The above path is the default installation path)

Anyone who has used McAfee knows VSE, and a few of them know MDF, while fewer know HIP. But speaking of CMA, almost no one knows it except some ePO users, or mistakenly think it is an ePO management component unrelated to ordinary desktop users, but the real situation is in a strong contrast with our ignorance: although few users know what CMA is, however, CMA is installed on their computers, but it is essential for daily use.

What is CMA?Anyone familiar with VSE may know that there is a "Common Framework" folder under the McAfee installation directory. Many people say this is a shared component of the McAfee Enterprise Edition security software, this kind of understanding is based on functional analysis, but it is actually an independent client program, that is, CMA.

CMA has three basic functions:1. It is used to update the DAT files, engines, and products of the McAfee Enterprise Edition security software. For example, the "McAfee AutoUpdate" window popped up when we manually update VSE and MDF is actually CMA; 2, used to run the scheduler of the task at a specific time, it is responsible for all scheduled tasks of the McAfee Enterprise Edition security software. 3. It is also used for the management service of the ePolicy Orchestrator Server. In summary, without CMA, our VSE and HIP will not be updated, and ePO will not be able to manage the client.

Since CMA is so important, why do we almost never know CMA before? This is because when we install VSE, CMA is automatically installed at the same time, the CMA's automatic update and task scheduling functions are considered as one of the VSE functions.

It looks like an unknown hero. Do we need to know what CMA is? The answer is yes. The reason is as follows:

1. Whether installed with VSE or running CMA independent installer, CMA is in English by default, this is why the interface we see when manually updating VSE 8.5 is in English. The solution is also simple. The McAfee official website provides multi-country language packs. You can download them and install them on your own.

2. When installing HIP 7.0, many of my friends suggested that "ePO" is not required to be installed. This may be because they attempted to install Server HIP on Windows XP, but more likely, what they see is not to mention the need for "ePO", but to say the need for "McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator Agent 3.6", which is another name of CMA. HIP 7.0 does not contain CMA, but it must be installed on a computer with at least CMA 3.6. If you see the above prompt, either you have not installed VSE 8.5, or you have installed VSE 8.0 with a lower CMA version. The solution is to install VSE 8.5 first or download the independent installation program on the official website.

Iii. CMA can update VSE and HIP, but it cannot upgrade itself. Currently, CMA 8.5, which comes with VSE 3.6, is not the latest (officially it is Agent 4.0)

4. Uninstall CMA. Although CMA 8.5 will be automatically installed when VSE 3.6 is installed, after you Uninstall all McAfee, CMA will remain on your computer and occupy a service. You cannot find the CMA name in the "add or delete programs" list. At this time, you can follow the methods below to delete: Click Start Menu> run, and enter the following command:

"C: \ Program Files \ Network Associates \ Common Framework \ FrmInst.exe"/REMOVE = AGENT

Note: This command disables the proxy and deletes it when it is not in use.

Or:

"C: \ Program Files \ Network Associates \ Common Framework \ FrmInst.exe"/forceuninstall

Note: This command specifies to uninstall the existing proxy and then install the new proxy. The effect on the client is to uninstall CMA.

CMA also has other functions, such as providing a McAfee Security Agent icon, in this way, the taskbar icons of VSE, MDF, HIP, and ePO are integrated into a McAfee Security Agent icon for display and management. However, to achieve this, it seems that this requires the cooperation of ePO.

PS: note that MDF and HIP cannot be installed and used at the same time. In addition, CMA display may cause some problems.
