Differences between centos6.5 and VMware and Oracle VM VirtualBox
I have been getting started with hadoop for some days. I have encountered many problems when I configured the hadoop preparation tool in the early stage.
Today, I have recorded one of my problems through my blog. I hope that later friends can avoid some troubles while reading this article.
First of all, I believe that some users who have been familiar with linux should know that in linux, most of the commands are not installed, but must be installed as needed,
Or download the entire command according to the service provided by centos (yum in centos, apt-get In ubuntu, in windows, the unix environment simulated by cygwin uses apt-cyg. Because of the many commands, It is very trivial.
Install the centos6.5 virtual machine in the VMware environment:
I use views to illustrate the situation.
During installation in VMware, the total number of files displayed in the Packages completed progress bar is 918.
However, when installing in VirtualBox, such:
The total number of files is 217.
When preparing the hadoop backup host, you need to disable the firewall (disabled in setup). After installing centos in VirtualBox, You need to mount iso, and install the command package you need (the specific command is a bit forgotten ).
However, in VMware, after centos is installed, you can directly start the setup command. The additional commands that need to be installed in the middle are much less. That is to say, installing centos in VMware requires much more commands than installing centos in VirtualBox, which consumes more time.
Personally, I prefer VMware because it is quite convenient to use VMware to transmit files from the windows System in the middle (filezilla can be used to transmit files to virtual machines in VirtualBox ). As for other advantages and disadvantages, you need to consider the problems.
