Outline
Some crystal decisions products provide two Java viewer types:
· (Intelligent) Java Viewer
· Java Plug-In Viewer
What is the difference between these two types of viewers?
Solution
When you select "(Intelligent) Java viewer", you are using the viewer applet provided by the built-in Java Virtual Machine (JVM) in the browser.
· If your browser is Internet Explorer, you may be using Microsoft JVM.
· If your browser is Netscape Communicator/navigator 4 or an earlier version, you use Netscape JVM.
· If your browser is Netscape 6 or 7, you use Sun JVM.
· If you are using a Mac computer, you are using an apple JVM.
When you select "Java Plug-In viewer", you are using the viewer applet carried by Sun JVM (it has nothing to do with your browser or operating system)
More knowledge
----------------
Microsoft and Netscape JVM use Java 1.1, and the current sun and Apple JVM use Java 1.4.
Java 1.4 has greatly improved Java 1.1. Java viewer can use additional functions implemented by more advanced Java 1.4. If the Java viewer finds itself running on Java 1.2 or later, it can give users more control in terms of RePort Printing and be able to use metafiles in a scalable form, print and display charts and maps, rather than low-resolution bitmaps ).
