Differences between Linux hardlink and symbolic link

Source: Internet
Author: User

First, read the ext2 System Format: laruence's Linux private dish, especially the relationship between superblock I-node and block.

Hard link: Just add a file name under the directory to point to the I-node of the existing file

Symbolic Link: Creates a new I-node and block, i-node in the directory where only the files to be linked are located in the block> record of the target file in the directory block> I-node of the target file

Therefore, hard links only apply to files in the same file system. If you delete hard links or original files, the files still exist.

If the source file is deleted, the symbolic link becomes invalid. It does not matter if you delete the symbolic link. Similar to shortcuts in Windows
