Article Title: Google will be the first to implement 64-bit Chrome on Linux. Linux is a technology channel of the IT lab in China. There are some basic categories including desktop applications, Linux system management, kernel research, embedded systems, and open source. Currently, Google has started to develop a 64-bit version of Linux Chrome, google's move will surely trigger the crazy pursuit of Linux fans. On Thursday, in an email, Chrome engineer Dean McNamee said: "The V8 engine team has made a lot of contributions to implementing the 64-bit port Linux Chrome, A series of improvements were made to Chromium. In the past few weeks, we have successfully brought 64-bit Chromium into Linux ." V8 is the Chrome engine used to run programs written in JavaScript language on the network. Chromium is an open-source project launched by Google. it is mainly used to support R & D of Chrome browsers. Today, almost all computers are equipped with 64-bit Intel or AMD processors, but for desktop computing, 32-bit operating systems and software are still very common. Currently, the transition from a software version to a 64-bit version is being performed in a tight and orderly manner, especially in the Linux and Mac OS X fields, but the change is not so easy to operate.

However, in the browser world, using a 64-bit browser to run 32-bit plug-ins can cause problems, such as Adobe Flash, Microsoft Silverlight, or Sun Microsystems Java plug-ins. Therefore, the 64-bit Chrome browser may have many problems during the running process. It is understood that the 64-bit system can make the software use more memory, improve the utilization rate of the processor and memory, so that the computer's computing tasks can run faster. However, due to incompatibility with plug-ins, 64-bit software may occupy more disk space, which complicate the testing and support of programmers. In addition, the speed improvement of 64-bit software is not so obvious, and users may not feel it. Currently, Mac OS x is close to the 64-bit version. However, 64-bit Safari will not officially arrive until Mac OS X 10.6 is released. Apple points out that JavaScript runs faster in a 64-bit Safari browser. In addition, the message pointed out that Adobe is also trying its best to convert Flash players to the 64-bit version, but Mozilla does not seem to be eager to convert its Firefox browser to the 64-bit version.
