Install VMware Workstation12 in CentOS7
Compared with virtualbox, VMware is inferior to virtualbox in terms of stability and compatibility due to the feature of closed-source, but because I used VMware as my previous virtual machines, I tried to install VMware.
First, set the motherboard security boot option to off.
It's easy to install, first download the current latest VMware-Workstation-Full-12.0.1-3160714.x86_64.bundle, then
# Sh./VMware-Workstation-Full-12.0.1-3160714.x86_64.bundle
The installation process is still smooth. Except for the GTK error in the command line at the beginning, there is no problem. However, when loading a previously created virtual machine file, the following prompt appears:
I tried four or five methods, and I failed to reinstall it twice. Instead, I had to try to install virtualbox, hoping to get some inspiration.
However, like vmware, virtualbox can be installed but cannot run. However, virtualbox provides a detailed error code, for example, giving us a clue.
Most of the information on the Internet is for virtualbox 4. X version, and I am 5. version X, so the error message is slightly different. However, the problem was found to be related to the Kernel through the query, and the author found the same artifact, that is, DKMS (Dynamic Kernel Module Support)
Use the following statement (you need to install the epel source in advance) to install this artifact.
# Yum install dkms
After the installation is complete, reinstall vmware to work properly.
