Cliff Miller, Operation director of the Linux Foundation in China, an international non-profit organization, said in an interview with PChome today that the Linux Foundation welcomes Chinese enterprise members to join us, jointly build the development of Linux in various fields.
IT is understood that there are currently Linux Foundation members, including IBM, Novell, Intel, Hewlett-Packard, Oracle, NEC, Fujitsu, Hitachi and other famous IT companies, and no member has joined China.
Ke lifu introduced three major advantages of using Linux: saving money first, including cost reduction of the operating system and cost reduction of development tools. Second, the increasing popularity of mobile phones, PCs, and other devices has driven the continuous development of personal computing. Using Linux gives users a faster, more reliable, and more interesting experience. Finally, the services provided by various major companies have mature commercial applications on Linux.
Ke lifu said that the current popular MeeGo is hosted in the Linux Foundation, although many intel and Nokia engineers are maintaining this project, however, there are also many developers in other fields contributing to their code, and MeeGo is constantly improved. At the upcoming COMPUTEX 2010, many vendors will also launch MeeGo-based products, he said.
