I used a dual system: Windows XP + RedHat fedora3, which is guided by grub. Due to Operation errors, even if the boot program is broken, neither of the two systems can go into the system. What should I do? Google first. After searching the Internet, I found many articles about Boot recovery. Let me explain my steps and make a Memorandum:
1. boot the system with Disk 1 installed in Linux
2. Press F5 and enter Linux rescue under Boot: cursor to enter remediation Mode
3. Run chroot/mnt/sysimage
4. Run/sbin/grub-install/dev/hda to restore grub
OK! Restart and you will see the familiar grub startup interface. Haha.
Note:
1. How to operate under the cursor in grub, but I have never tried it. Thank you very much.
Grub> root (hd1, 0) specifies the operating system of the partition to be guided. This is the operating system of the first partition of the second disk.
Grub> setup (hdo0) writes grub to the hard disk MBR.
Modify/etc/grub. conf and add
Title Microsoft Windows XP (can be written as needed)
Rootnoverify (hd0, 3) (This 3 is the partition of your Windows)
Chainloader + 1
2. How to start the system under grub
To start an operating system, first specify the system on which the disk is to be booted. For example, to boot the operating system of the first partition on the first hard disk
Grub> root (hd0, 0)
Then, if you want to start Windows, Type
Grub> chainloader (hd0, 0) + 1
Note that (hd0, 0) numbers must be changed based on the hard disk and partition. If you want to boot Linux or other systems, Type
Grub> kernel (hd0, 0)/boot/vmlinuz root =/dev/hda1
Note that the hda1 parameter also needs to change with the hard disk and partition. For example, hdb1 is used for booting from the first partition of the second hard disk.
Finally, press boot to start the system.
You cannot determine the command or command parameters at any time. You can press the tab to get help. Use the up/down key to obtain the command history. In fact, these commands are the boot description of menu. lst. You can also enter the startup command according to the descriptions, and then press boot to guide the system.
