Log File System, Log File
Journaling file system is a file system with fault recovery capabilities. In this file system, because the update information of directories and bitmap is always written to a continuous log on the disk before the original disk log is updated, it ensures data integrity. When a system error occurs, a full log file system will ensure that the data on the disk is restored to the status before the system crash. At the same time, it will overwrite the unsaved data and store it. If the computer does not crash, the data may have been lost, this is a very important feature for key business applications.
Not all operating systems provide the same log technology. Windows NT provides a less robust version of the complete system. If your Windows NT system crashes, you may not lose the entire disk volume, but you may lose all the data that was not written to the disk before the system crash. For the same reason, the default Linux system, ext2fs, does not register logs at all. This means that the entire disk volume will be destroyed once the system crashes, although not common in Linux.
