September 30, Microsoft recently announced that the core chakracore of the Chakra JavaScript engine running Edge browser and UWP apps has been able to run on some OS X and Linux system versions.
Microsoft has previously launched the Chakracore Open source program, which will help developers make it easier to develop cross-platform applications, which is what slots are doing to enrich their UWP platform applications. Microsoft said in its official blog that "the JavaScript Runtime (JSRT) API was originally designed for Windows and as part of a cross-platform support program, we redesigned the API that developers can use to develop cross-platform applications."
Microsoft plans to bring more new features to Chakracore in the future, including JIT compiler, English writing Just-in-time compiler, and Chinese meaning instant compilers.
