While we are still waiting for Microsoft to launch a full Windows 8.1 Remote Desktop application for Windows Phone users, they also launched a new app this week that allows WP users to remotely control the tasks on Windows Server R2 Essentials. The app, called my Server R2, can now be downloaded directly from the Windows Phone store for free, and it's a good application from Microsoft's application description. Microsoft's description says:
My server for Windows Phone is designed to help you seamlessly connect to your server resources via Windows Phone smartphone. With my Server, you will be able to manage users, devices, alerts, and shared files that access Windows Server R2 Essentials.
Earlier this year, Microsoft also launched an application similar to my server for Windows 8 and Windows RT users. So the new Windows Phone version is an extension of the Windows 8 app.
Microsoft has launched a full version of Windows 8.1 Remote Desktop applications for iOS, Android, and Mac OS x users. The company also said it would also use similar apps for Windows Phone users, but is not aware of the exact release date.
