Oracle client Installation and basic configuration

1. Install Oracle client, visit Oracle site to download Oracle Database 11g Release 2 client or (direct download of Oracle 11GR2 Client)

2. After downloading the extract, click Setup.exe

3. Select Administrator or custom in the installation type

4. Select the installation language

5. Specify the installation location

6. Click Finish to install

7. Go to the installation directory: 11.2.0\client_2\network\admin, the new name is: Tnsnames.ora file, the file content is as follows:

(Address_list =
(ADDRESS = (protocol=tcp) (HOST =x.x.x.x) (PORT = 1521)))
(Connect_data= (SID =plgah0))
)

8. Open PL/SQL in database Select My_tns, enter a user name and password to connect.

9. The character set of the Oracle client is in the registry, and the settings are consistent with the server. (Country, region and character set)

or set the Nls_lang property in the environment variable of the system
