Oracle Data Guard (iii) Switchover 1. check the status of the Primary database SQL> select switchover_status from v $ database; Role Switching can be performed only when the status is "TO STANDBY" or "SESSIONS ACTIVE. 2. switch the role SQL of the Primary database> alter database commit to switchover to physical standby with session shutdown; SQL> shutdown immediate; SQL> startup mount; 3. check the Standby database status SQL> select switchover_status from v $ database; Role Switching can be performed only when the status is "TO PRIMARY" or "SESSIONS ACTIVE. 4. switch Standby database role SQL> alter database commit to switchover to primary with session shutdown; SQL> alter database open; 5. start the Standby Execution Process SQL> alter database recover managed Standby database using current logfile disconnect from session in the new standby database;
