Exalytics memory machine hardware is a single server. It provides the best configuration for memory analysis required by business intelligence load, including computing capabilities, massive memory, and fast network.

Oracle Exalytics hardware architecture-memory computing Basics

Oracle Exalytics hardware is designed in a 3U rack unit and optimized for memory Analysis in Business Intelligence workloads. Multiple Oracle Exalytics machines can be combined to expand the available memory capacity to provide high availability. Oracle Exalytics includes powerful computing capabilities, rich memory, and fast network options, as well as storage options that can be directly connected.

Oracle Exalytics is supported by four Intel XeonE7-4800 series Processors, one of which is the high-speed Interconnection Technology between processors and I/O. Each processor supports 10 computing cores. Therefore, Exalytics includes a total of 40 computing cores. Each core has two virtual execution threads, totaling 80. This computing capability, coupled with 1 TB of memory, provides a sufficient guarantee for memory analysis.

We all know that to achieve a high-performance business intelligence system, we need to establish a rapid connection with data warehouses, operating systems, and data sources. In addition, when building clusters with high reliability, load balancing, and disaster backup functions, high-speed network interconnection is also an essential condition. Therefore, Oracle Exalytics provides the following network interfaces to support the above requirements:

InfiniBand: Each Exalytics provides two InfiniBand ports with a four data rate (QDR) of 40 Gbit/s. When Exalytics is connected to Exadata, Exalytics becomes an integrated part of the Exadata private InfiniBand Network, with high-speed and low-latency database server access performance. When multiple Exalytics machines are connected to a cluster, InfiniBand lighting can also act as the interconnection channel between high-speed clusters.

10 GB Ethernet: Each Exalytics provides two 10 Gbit/s Ethernet ports for connecting to the enterprise data source and client for access.

1 GB Ethernet: Each Exalytics also provides four 1 Gbit/s Ethernet ports for client access.

Dedicated Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM): Exalytics also provides Ethernet port-ILOM for remote management.

All network interfaces support failover and can be used to create clusters without spof. Exalytics also includes redundant, hot swappable power supplies and fans.

Exalytics includes a High-Performance direct attached storage system (direct attached storage system), including high-performance raid hba and 3.6 TB of original disk capacity. Alternatively, Oracle Exalytics machine clusters can use network attached storage (NAS) to save shared metadata and configuration data.

Oracle Exalytics provides a complete server management infrastructure through ILOM (Oracle Integrated Lights Out Manager. Oracle ILOM manages server hardware through the remote control (SSL, HTTPS) and serial connection.

Oracle Exalytics Software Architecture-data-driven decision making

Exalytics runs the Oracle Business Intelligence Foundation and OracleTimesTen memory database. To achieve better performance in Exalytics, both BI Foundation and TimesTen memory databases have been optimized. In fact, TimesTen came from a database vendor with the same name acquired by Oracle in. More interestingly, TimesTen was removed from the computer vendor Hewlett-Packard in 1996 and became an independent company with approximately 100 employees.

Oracle BI Foundation: provides the most complete, open, and integrated business intelligence platform on the market. It provides comprehensive capabilities for business intelligence, including enterprise reports, announcement boards, project analysis, multidimensional OLAP, scorecard, and integrated platform-Based Prediction and Analysis. Oracle BI Foundation includes industry-class server technologies for relevance analysis and multidimensional analysis, and provides a wide range of end-user experiences, including visualization, collaboration, alarms, and notifications, search and mobile access.

TimesTen memory database optimized for Exalytics: Oracle memory database TimesTen is a relational database optimized for memory, it provides applications with real-time responsiveness and extremely high throughput required by today's real-time enterprises and industries (such as telecommunications, capital markets and defense.

TimesTen provides real-time performance by changing the assumption that the data resides at runtime. By managing data in the memory and optimizing the data structure and access algorithms accordingly, database operations can be executed with maximum efficiency, greatly improving response speed and throughput, it is even comparable to RDBMS that uses a high-speed cache disk. Oracle memory database TimesTen can be embedded into applications, which eliminates inter-process communication and unnecessary network operations to further improve the performance of database operations.

Columnar compression: Oracle TimesTen memory database Exalytics supports columnar compression of memory data to reduce memory usage. It can achieve a compression ratio of 5 times, which is conducive to expanding the memory capacity. Analysis Algorithms compress data directly to accelerate analysis queries in the memory.

The Oracle worksheet is a multi-dimensional OLAP analysis application server. Running corner stone on Exalytics has many benefits for memory operations. For example, it can improve overall storage performance, optimize parallel operations, optimize MDX syntax, and improve the performance of the MDX search engine. On Exalytics, the run of corner stone offers a query speed of up to 16 times, and 6 times less write-back and computing operations, including batch processing.
