Server Microsoft officially released SQL Server Service Pack 4 (SP4) in 2005-5-6, which is the first supported 64-bit package for the official SQL Server 2000 product release. The platform supports Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition, allowing 32-bit SQL Server 2000 applications to run on 64-bit platforms through Windows Emulator (WOW64). At the same time, SP4 has fixed some special points since the official release of SQL Server 2000.
Official said: SP4 is a cumulative service pack that contains all the patches since the service pack was released, including: SP1, SP2, SP3, SP3a. SP4 can run on either the original version of SQL Server 2000 or on any of the versions where SP1, SP2, SP3, SP3a are already installed.
The SP4 contains the security patch ms03-031 released in July 2003.
SP4 includes packages for the following SQL Server 2000 components:
Database Component (download file: Sql2000-kb884525-sp4-x86.exe)
Update the 32-bit database components of SQL Server 2000, including databases engine, replication, client connectivity components, and tools.
Analysis Services Component (download file: Sql2000.as-kb884525-sp4-x86.exe)
Update 32-bit analysis Services for SQL Server 2000.
SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE) component (download file: Sql2000.msde-kb884525-sp4-x86.exe)
For SQL Server 2000 's 32-bit MSDE component:
Install a new instance of MSDE
Upgrading an existing instance of MSDE
Updating applications that use merge modules
