Upgrade to 4 GB memory-Linux general technology-Linux technology and application information. The following is a detailed description. Today, I finally upgraded my local memory to 4 GB. In fact, there is enough space for daily work and entertainment in 2 GB, and I can't even use it for most of the time. The reason why I want to upgrade my memory to 4 GB is as follows, it is because I need to run some virtual machines for testing and learning, so that the original sufficient memory is a little too short. Another reason is: the memory is cheap now (285 a piece of 2G ), haha
I used 32-bit archlinux before, and now it is troublesome to upgrade to 4 GB memory, because the official binary kernel maintained by archlinux does not enable the 'config _ highmem64g' option, in this way, my 4G memory can only be identified for about 3.5 GB. I can re-compile the kernel to solve this problem and use all the 4G memory, but it is still troublesome, because of the official kernel upgrade, I have to re-compile the kernel. Otherwise, I can only use the old kernel compiled by myself and cannot enjoy the new features brought by the new kernel. The reason why I ran archlinux after using gentoo for more than two years is to free me from the endless compilation, so that I can have more energy to do other things. So, I finally decided, fully migrated to a 64-bit system.
There is nothing to say about installing archlinux. Create a new LV in my volume group and install it. It works very well now, great.
