As we all know, Ghost can quickly back up and restore hard disk data. If the operating system on the hard disk is paralyzed and data is lost, you can use Ghost to quickly recover data, it eliminates the trouble of re-installing the system and various software. In fact, Ghost is really a powerful software, in addition to conventional backup, data recovery, there are many features.
1. Use Ghost to quickly format large partitions
Nowadays, the disk capacity is getting bigger and bigger. It takes a lot of time to Format a large partition. In fact, Ghost can quickly Format a large partition.
First, divide a Small Partition (for example, 40 MB) on the hard disk, and then Format the partition using the Format command. Do not store any files on the partition in the future; next, restart the computer with the DOS boot Disk, run Ghost, select "Local → Disk → To Image" from the menu, and create the partition into a GHO Image file, which is stored in other partitions.
When you need to format a large partition in the future, you can use the DOS boot Disk to restart the computer, run Ghost, select "Local → Disk → From Image" From the menu, and select the preceding GHO Image file, select the large partition to be formatted, press OK, and then press YES.
Ii. Use Ghost to clear disk fragments
When you use Ghost to back up a hard disk partition, Ghost automatically skips the blank part of the partition and only writes the data to the GHO image file. When the partition is restored, Ghost will continuously write the content in the GHO file into the partition, so that the partition header is full of data and no blank space is involved, therefore, the original fragment files in the partition will naturally disappear.
To clear disk fragments, use Scandisk to scan and fix the shards. Then, use the DOS boot disk to restart the machine, enter the DOS status, and run Ghost in pure DOS mode, select "Local → Disk → To Image" To make the partition into a GHO Image file, and then restore the GHO file To the original partition.
Note: You must select the correct partition when restoring the GHO image file. Otherwise, the original partition will be overwritten, resulting in data loss.
3. Use Ghost to clone hard disks from multiple PCs at the same time
Ghost8.0 added a one-to-one restoration method in the original one-to-one cloning mode, enabling you to use the TCP/IP network, clone data from one PC hard disk to multiple PC hard disks at the same time, and you can also choose the interaction or batch processing method, so that you can install the system or upgrade multiple computers at the same time, saves time. However, all the currently free online downloads are trial versions (that is, standalone version). The "LPT" and "NetBios" Network cloning functions are not supported. The official Ghost Network version only supports this function.
4. Add a password to the ghost file
It is not difficult to encrypt the backup file. You can add the corresponding parameters after the Ghost. When you start Ghost, add the parameter "ghost-pwd" after it. In this way, the startup Ghost is similar to the normal one, but it will be different after the backup file name is input. At this time, you will be prompted to enter the protection password (). After the input is complete, you will be asked to repeat the input for confirmation. If the two input passwords are different, you will be asked to re-enter them.
Figure: Prompt for password protection
In the next step, you can encrypt the backup file. After you select an encrypted backup file during recovery, you will be prompted to enter the password. Only the correct password can be entered for the next step, then you can recover the system according to your usual operations. If you think it is too troublesome to enter a password like this, you can directly enter the password in the command line, for example, "ghost-pwd = the password you set ", in this way, you will not be prompted to enter the password during the recovery process.
5. Reduce the size of the Ghost file
Ghost provides great convenience for us to quickly restore the system when there is a problem in the system. However, some friends have a large Ghost file. How can we reduce the volume of ghost image files? We can do this from the following points.
1. Before you perform a ghost image file, you must delete all the files in the WindowsTemp folder and use the system cleanup software to clean up junk files.
2. Before creating a ghost image file, you can delete the win386.swp file in the windows folder under dos for the win98 operating system, and delete the _ restore folder and its content under drive C for the WinME operating system.
3. When performing the Ghost operation, you can use the compression method to effectively reduce the volume of the ghost image file.
