PS ......
1. Start the program with a shortcut key
Add a keyboard shortcut for the program you specified. You only need to press the corresponding shortcut key to start the program and so on. Just like we add a hotkey for the shortcut when using XP, gnome also has these features, setting is not difficult. First open the terminal and enter:
Gconf-Editor
Open "apps-& gt; metacity-& gt; keybinding commands" in sequence. A total of 12 commands can be defined here, as shown in. I set command_1 to open the terminal and command_2 to open the Firefox browser, command_3 open the rhythmbox player. You can add the commands you need.
After adding the key, go to "apps-& gt; metacity-& gt; Global keybingdings" and add the shortcut key you want. For example, if I have filled in a total of three commands, including command_1, command_2, and command_3, then I want to fill in a shortcut key combination on run_command_1, run_command_2, and run_command_3, the shortcut key can be, F1 to F12, and a combination of letters. F1 indicates pressing CTRL + ALT + F1 at the same time, and so on. (You just need to press the defined key without pressing CTRL)
Now you only need to press the shortcut key you just set to run the command.
2. Set the "desktop" folder as your home directory.
That is, use the home directory as the default directory on the desktop, open the configuration editor, and run
Gconf-Editor
Go to "apps-& gt; Nautilus-& gt; preferences", enable top_is_home_dir, and restart X.
3. Right-click the menu and choose "create document" to add a new project.
By default, there is only one empty file. In fact, you can simply add your favorite template. For the latest Ubuntu 7.10, there is a "template" folder in your home directory, right, that's it. Create a template in it, for example, create a "text file. TXT ", right-click the menu, the" text file "option will appear. Similarly, you can create OpenOffice.org documents and gimp files.
4. Adjust the Icon size
The default GNOME Icon size is a little too large for 1024x768 resolution. To change the size, open the file browser, for example, open the "Main folder" from the "location ", click "edit" -- & gt; "Preferences" and change "Default zoom level" under "Default icon view" to 75%. The Icon size is similar to that in WINXP.
If you have read the SuSE release, you will find that there is a large main directory icon on the KDE Desktop. In fact, gnome can also be implemented. Open the configuration editor.
Gconf-Editor
Go to "apps-& gt; Nautilus-& gt; desktop" and enable "home_icon_visible". The desktop displays the Home Directory icon, right-click it, select the stretch icon and drag it to your desired environment.
5. Hide the mounted volumes on the desktop
Open the Configuration Manager.
Gconf-Editor
Go to "apps-& gt; Nautilus-& gt; desktop" and remove the check box before volumes_visible.
