Last week, many domestic media reported Google's new media playback software, but all of them were vague. I checked it on Google's blog.
Google Desktop released a new gadget, Google Media Server. the software automatically identifies UPnP media devices (PCs, Xbox, PSP) connected to PCs and plays audio and video files on these devices. and if your TV also supports UPnP and connects to the PC, you can watch these things on the TV.
Google claims to use this product to fill the gap between Google and television. (Google Media Server is a Windows application that aims to bridge the gap between Google and your TV .)
Nowadays, HD TVs are becoming more and more popular, and content on TV computers is becoming more and more accepted. many manufacturers want to use similar products (software and hardware) to occupy users' TVs. Microsoft has media center and Xbox, Sony ps, Nokia's Nokia N800, apple also made an AppleTV, but it was not particularly successful. the fate of this Google attack is unknown. it's still a beta version. It's too early to comment. media Server specifically listed play your favorite YouTube video during Google introduction. I think YouTube has also launched a high-definition version.
Note: upnp av (audio and video) is taken from en Wikipedia.
UPnP av is a standard that promotes time interconnection between various AV devices and is part of the UPnP standard. devices that support this protocol can share media data freely between devices. for example, my movie is stored on a network hard drive (NAS). I can play a movie on PS and watch it on my TV. as long as these devices support UPnP.
UPnP AV usually includes the following parts:
UPnP mediaserver, server, responsible for data storage. software Implementation and hardware implementation. many of them use PC-based software, such as Microsoft's media center. most hardware products are produced by network storage vendors, and an UPnP software may be added to the product;
Controlpoint and media Renderer. The client connects to and recognizes UPnP mediaserver devices, reads data, and plays audio and video data. hardware Implementation and software implementation. software such as Windows Media play and Winamp. there seems to be few hardware yet. Apple TV should be regarded as one. Google media server should be like this, although it is called Media Server,
