Microsoft's most-seen SQLServer2005 finally came on the market, bringing new features and changes that were different from previous versions. This article shows you how to deploy SQLServer2005. The installation process is quite different from the previous version, and hopefully this article will help you avoid some of the problems that might arise before you deploy it yourself.
Installation of SQLServer2005
When you first put the SQLServer2005 CD or DVD into the server, you will see a guide window (Figure A), which is the product introduction and operation instructions.
Figure A
SQLServer2005 the boot page. Note that even if you are installing with a single DVD, the text at the top of the page displays "Disc 1/2 (Disc 1 of 2)".
To start the installation, select the server components, tools, online reference books and samples (server components, tools, book online, and samples) option under the "Install (Install)" heading. The first screen that pops up is the end User License agreement for the product. You need to check "I accept the terms and conditions of the agreement (I accept the licensing terms and Conditions)" and click on the Next button to continue. I'm not going to list the license page here. You may already be familiar with this.
The next screen (Figure B) shows some of the programs that the installer will install in advance. NET Framework 2.0 is the key here. If you decide to install SQLServer2005 and other applications on the same server, make sure that they are able to use the framework. I've come across the 2.0 version of the. NET Framework conflict with the application, which requires the use of a lower version of the framework. Click the "Install (Install)" button to install these items. When these items are installed, you can click the "Next" button.
