How to encrypt Windows partitions using TrueCrypt
How to Use TrueCrypt to encrypt Windows System partitions (Last Update: 09:24:23)
0. Download from the correct location
This step is wrong, and nothing is used.
1. First, determine whether the hard disk is a multi-system disk.
The boot zone will be overwritten by the TrueCrypt boot program. Currently, linux boot is not supported. The simple solution is to find a USB flash drive and enter Linux, grub-install to the USB flash drive boot zone, you can insert a USB flash drive to linux later. The difficult solution is to use grub to guide the rescue. iso mentioned later, which is troublesome. It is skipped here.
2. Determine whether the disk is to be instantly restored.
TrueCrypt burns and restores the disc to ensure security. If no device is detected, the system will prompt you to restore the USB flash drive. If you do not want to burn the file, download the WinCDEmu simulator in [2]. After TrueCrypt generates an ISO file, use WinCDEmu to mount the file. If the drive letter is random, TrueCrypt will automatically detect the disc and then cheat you. This ISO is very important. You need to copy one copy on your USB flash drive. This can be used if the boot zone is damaged or overwritten.
3. Check whether TrueCrypt is genuine.
The TrueCrypt website has been closed by itself. Currently, there is a github version that is credible, and all websites in China can download webshells. Do not trust any download software provided by thunder, Baidu cloud, or the download site. Download Software from [1] is audited [3].
4. After installation, open TrueCrypt, select the "System" menu, select the first "Encrypt System Partition/Drive", and follow the prompts. If you have a linux Partition, you cannot encrypt the entire Drive (Disk). You need to select a Partition ).
5. The password must be very, very long.
It doesn't matter what the encryption algorithm and the hash algorithm choose, and each one is enough. Generally, AES is the fastest.
6. Complete encryption after restart
After the encryption operation, TrueCrypt only modifies the boot zone. Encryption starts after the restart. It can be completed in about one hour without affecting conventional computer operations. You can also pause and resume encryption when appropriate.
7. decryption at any time
The decryption command is also under the System Menu
